Default Pushrod lenght w/non adjustables

Im not sure but I think I need different length pushrods. I installed a set of H/S non-adjustable 1.7s on my lq9 and I followed the directions like it said 1-1/4 to 1-1/2 turns to 22 ft. lbs but when I installed them they took more like 2 to 2-1/2 turns to torque. Just out of curiosity I fired the engine up and it ran like crap wouldnt stay running without trottle and I got several random misfire codes. If the pushrods are too long can it cause the valves to stay open and misfire? I already ordered a length checker and a dial indicator to make sure I am on the base circle when I install them. Am I on the right track? Does this sound right to you? Any info would be appreciated.

You are doing good. Sounds like you need a little shorter pushrod. And yes, it can hold the valves open.

I agree, I think when you measure you will find you need a different pushrod. I wouldn't start it again either.

Well finally checked PR length and it comes out to be 7.350 vs. the stockers I had at 7.4
I have already ordered new PR and tune for the computer as I have learned that a stock tune with a cam is a bad combo. Will let yall know how it turns out when I get em installed.
