engine valley cover

i need to remove my valley cover on my 2001 ls1 5.7. do i have to remove the knock sensors before the valley cover will come off? if so how?

the knock sensors are threaded into the block..........use a 22mm or a 7/8 to remove them........yes they must be removed to get the VC off

Yep they must be removed. Won't take but a minute or two to remove them and pull the valley cover off.
