Default Which head casting for 346 with poss future 383 buildup

Right now, I'm running a Cam(TR224/112)/Intake/Headers car and am looking at picking up some heads to throw on. If that was all I would be doing, I would probably go with a set of TEA 5.3L heads.

But I am seriously considering doing a stroker in the future. Obviously if I do so, the cams gonna change. But what I'm concerned with is the head compatability between the needs of a 346 and a 383. If I go the 383 route, it will be with a LS1 block and a 4" eagle crank (3.905 x 4"). I know that the 5.3L heads work pretty good on a 346, but would I benifit more from a different casting on the 383? Or would the 5.3s be ok. If the 5.3s are fine on both CIDs, should they be ported differently to take advantage of the difference in airflow.

Basically, if I get a set of good heads for my 346, will they also be good with a 383 should I go that route at a later date?

One other thing to kick around is if the LS2 block is compatible, what effect would a 4.0 bore have on the decision to get heads now. <--- this situation would be ideal, but I doubt that the LS2 block will be compatible. Nice 402 for not alot more than a 383 LS1(both would be forged internals).

Thanks,

Mike

243 ls6 heads. or you can try the PP ls6 style heads which are 6.0l heads with the combustion chamber welded up to raise the compression.
