Hey i just purchased a 1998 camaro z28 with full bolt ons and an ls6 cam. Does anyone have an idea of the gains that can be made with an ls6 cam. I am new to this forum sorry if i posted in wrong section.

I'd say 360-380 depending on certain variables.

you may want to consider and research a 224, 226 or 228r cam, all smaller cams that will give you more improvement over a ZO6 cam, depending on A4 or M6 you may need a stall too

I just got done researching this exact question and from what I found out a full bolt on, LS6 cammed, LS1 with stock heads will be 370-380rwhp. Power below 4000 will be identical of the stock LS1 cam, above 4000 is where the LS6 cam takes off.

I would only run a ls6 cam for passing emission .you can get a custom cam that will make alot more power and pass emissions.try a TR224 at lest . a Patrick-G cam is $25 more then a stale self cam.

For a number of the other replies, the OP is asking his question because the car ALREADY had the ls6 cam installed.

if you wana know how bad *** you can make it you should have seen my camaro before i dropped a valve..... ls6 cam, udp, headers built trans 4400 stall, 373 gear, 1.8 rockers ported heads and a bad *** tune and she would do 11.5 or a tad below all day.

ls6 cam generally gains 15-25whp over the stock ls1 cam... 15whp gain over the 98-00 ls1, 20-25whp over the 01-02...

I would say with a 98 and the ls6 cam your probably at 340-350 full bolt ons. The 98 heads untouched are a huge limiting factor. Once ported they will match a set of 241s ported but cannot hold a candle to ported 243s. Even with a LS6 cam I dont see a huge improvement until those heads are changed. So a 2000 model year A4 made 361. I am still going to say 340-350 realistic. My 98 with a TV2 made 381 through LS6 Intake and 98 heads. That cam is 232/234 etc. My buddy did a 228/230 cam swap on his 01 SS same exhaust Pacesetter LTs ORY and LM1 catback same rear end gears and a 10 bolt rear end he put down 396hp. Just a thought about how limiting 98 heads are the larger the cam you get.

incorrect! you need atleast a ls6 spring for the ls6 cam... and since the ls6 cam has a smaller base circle longer pushrods are a must!

Before LS6 cam my best was 11.56 @ 115.40 w/ a 1.52 60' in -400 DA.

After LS6 cam by best is 11.43 @ 117.79 w/ a 1.56 60' in +1150 DA.

Hope this helps.
