Ticking at certain RPM range
your lifters could
a.be bad
b.not getting enouph oil psi
then with that they lets say "slap"
also could be bad valvesprings, that is normally higher RPM problem though.
All of those are ways that allow there to be slop in your valvetrain causing the ticking, and also the impact when they recontact each other also causes damage.
Just my theory.
