Default Healthy Cam Specs?

I just bought a comp cam form ebay for $150, for my 98 Z28. The cam is a custom grind with spec card that matches the # on the cam so I know I was not ripped off. Anyway..The cam reads .591 intake and .567 exhaust, Duration is 230 intake and 224 exhaust with a Lobe separation of 112.0. Is this a healthy cam for fully ported heads (2.02 in, 1.60 ext)? Comp says this is the bigest cam I can use w/o a higher stall converter and needs minor tuning. And how lumpy will the idle be?

Should I go bigger on the exhaust side or leave it? Speed and whoop & *** is my consern! lol

rule #1, questions first then buy. thats a good cam but what if it wasnt, you already bought it then you'ld have to go through the trouble of selling it.

that cam is kind of a blend between a tr230 and x1. w/o a bigger stall are you refering to an aftermarket one you have now or the stock one? if you have the stock one that wont be a good cam and you will need tuning on that cam. its on a 112 which will be lopey but it'll also depend on your tune. what are your other mods?

I have not upgraded the converter yet, but will it really make that much of a diffrence? Im still new to the coverter and stall specs..as for other mods I have done to 98z are ported tb, free mods, FlowMaster est w/ off road Y-pipe w/ sims, and 120 shot (Dry nos set-up).

I am getting the car tunned with Ls1-edit, soon as the weather gets warmer to throw on the heads and cam. I can use all the helpful hints I can get..and thanks for the info on the cam!

you'll want a new stall, 3200-3600 is a good range, and yes it'll make a huge difference . and you'll really want some LT's to take full advantage of that cam, stock manifolds wont cut it. if you just install the cam as is dont expect huge gains, you need more supporting bolt ons.
