Default low oil pressure then...

So on the way home from work i was stopped at a light and looked down and saw my oil pressure was hovering a little above 20 psi.... so i gave it a tap of the gas and it shot up to over 40 where is used to be... i have already been through one pump. So... i get home check the oil and it is just a hair low... so i went to restart it and the oil pressure needle never moved..... my car only has 50k miles the first pump went out at 20k so now it looks like im on pump number 3.

so does it sound like my pump is bad again or something else?

I would hook a mechanical gauge to it. I have never trusted factory gauges. Just a thought.

Do these cars not have a fuel pump triggered off of the OP sending unit? I swore my old firebird would not fire up if it didn't see oil pressure.

Definitely check the pressure with a mechanical gauge first of course, then it looks like you might be pulling the pump again...

Good to hear it's fixed. That's scary though, one of my biggest fears is losing the pump.
