Default Going to start getting parts, List look ok?

Hey guys just been doing a lot of research and searching lately for a H/C combo for my car ad done a lot of talkng to people on and off the forum about setups and looking at R&D/Dyno runs. Car is a 00 SS Full Bolt on and this is the list I came up with to start ordering parts and hopefully install over the Winter/Spring before the car comes back out, keep in mind it is just a street car no track running maybe once or twice a year

TSP 228R 110 or 111 LSA (still deciding)
TEA STG 1.5 5.3L Heads 59cc chambers, 2.020 1.550 Int/EX valves, dual springs
.040 Cometic head gaskets
LS6 Ported Oil Pump
LS2 HD Timing set
LS7 Lifters
ARP Head bolt Kit
Misc gasket Sets

Only thing I am still a little confused on/need help is what hardened PR's to use and length/also anyone see a problem here with PTVC? Or anything else to add to the list, I will be ordering a majority from TSP as I have dealt with them in the past for parts and have had great service, lifter trays? LS2?

I personally won't mess with Cometic gaskets. too moany reports of problems. I used GM MLS gaskets in my build. You'll have to measure for the PR you need after you get the heads on. There's no other way to do it. You can guess, but that's all it would be.

Agree with MLS over Cometic gaskets.

Affirmative on the lifter trays. Also consider a trunion upgrade if you are going use OEM rockers. You should measure the PTV clearance, but any opinions (guesses) on that subject will necessarly require a specific cam choice.

I just assumed LS2 trays haven't heard much on that opinion besides them, I will do some sort of trunion upgrade, who still does it...I have heard from multiple people that I can safely get away with a cam under 230 and not worry about about PTVC I will obviouisly measure but so far flycut is not in my future just looking for more opinions, also i have had good luck with cometic y is everyone saying otherwise?

I think the Cometics are less tolerant to head/block surface imperfections. If you are working with a freshly shaved block and freshly milled heads on an engine stand that is no big deal. But if you are swapping heads in your driveway and cleaning the block with hand tools your chances of getting a good seal are better with the MLS.

I would check. I used the same heads with a 226/230 cam and had issues. TEA drops the intake valve down on some of their heads which dramatically reduces PTV clearance.

Also, if you use those gaskets I would check to see how much your pistons are sticking out of the block to make sure they don't smack the cylinder heads.

With those heads and a MLS gasket it comes to about 11.25-11.5:1

So am I opening up a can of worms here haha I really wanted a good street setup and thought I nailed it with this but i dont want to end up fly cutting and running into issues

Pistons out of the block? Not follwoing you there, TEA says under 230 all set just lookimng for some mor opinions on PTVC granted I will have to measure just wondering If i should go to even a smaller cam

Anyone else? I am also thinking of maybe running just a 224/228 to hopefully maybe avoid flycutting?

Don't forget our PRC cylinder heads as well! We have some package specials going together & I bet we can make you some good pricing. Do some researching on the PRC cylinder head dyno results. I think you'll be very happy with what you find & we will have milling programs for the heads to match the camshafts we offer!
