Post Can it be done?

Hello I posted this in external Gen III but it was the wrong forum. Can I realisticly make 500-550hp (crank) with Lq4 and stock heads? Can I just put a stroker crank in the motor with stock pistons and rods? I plan to run ls6 intake. I'm doing this a tight budget lol. Thanks in advance.

I had an ls2 404 with a stock ls1 heads, ls6 intake and torquer v3 cam and made 420/430 rwhp/rwtq on an m6. I think that probably would be 500ish at the crank.

Assuming you stroke it to 4 inches, i think that would end up being a 400ci engine, assuming the lq4 has a 4inch bore, which i believe it does.

Now, if you can get ahold of some l92 heads, im sure you would be well over 500 at the crank (you would need a l76 intake however).

....no. you cannot stroke an engine and use the stock pistons and rods. well you can use the stock rods, but not pistons. more than likely, if you buy pistons for a stroked 6.0, its going to have .927 wrist pins and the stockers have a .944-.945, so you will either have to have the stock rods bushed, or but aftermarket. which is smarter.

Question

So would it be better to just swap to 243 heads to raise compression and buy a good cam and ls6 intake for now? I know it may not be 500 crank but it may be cheaper doing this with all the deals out here.

Don't forget all the other stuff you need when doing a heads/cam swap. Bigger injectors, bolts, gaskets, lifters?,

There's nothing cheap about a heads/cam swap. In fact, it could get really expensive if you decide to cheap out on it the first time around.

TBH i would go with l92 heads, you can find em for 400 bucks or less if you look hard, in stock form they are amazing. But Jim is absolutely correct. I probably ended up spending 3k on a h/c/i swap even when i got my h/c/i themselves for 2k.
