Question Ls9?

I have a 2000 Z28 B4C. I was wondering how hard it would be to drop a LS9 engine in my car. What I would need and about how much all that would cost and if it would be worth it. If you have any insight please enlighten me on this. Thanks for ur information.

You'd be better off going with a stroker, unless you can get one hell of a deal on an LS9. They aren't exactly cheap long blocks, then you have to buy all the parts for the intercooler setup.

I saw an article on that Camaro in GMHTP not too long ago. It's a badass swap for sure, but I wouldn't expect it to be done again for quite a while. Correct me if I'm wrong, but wouldn't a FI 6.0 truck motor be able to match those hp numbers?

that all is true. the ls9 engine would be quite a big chunk of change. what ls engine would be a more logical engine that wouldn't push far past the 10k mark? What kind of stroker would be the best to go with?

You can get an LQ9/LQ4 iron Gen III 6.0 block and stroke it out to 402-408. 600ish hp NA depending on the heads and cam, or of course you can boost it or spray the house down. It would be an easier swap since it's a Gen III.

Yeah that wouldn't be a bad idea. I'm just trying to decide what I want to do. Im still trying to figure out what kind of headers I should get, what kind of cam, etc. This is my first ls1, i'm used to dealing with imports..lol

The real question is how big is your budget?

The budget has me looking at about 1200 dollars to play with at the end of each month. So I got a decent amount of money to do stuff with.

GM Performance Division has a 4th gen out on the 2010 Hot Rod Power Tour that had a LS( under the hood and ZR1 wheels on all four corners. It was painted Corvette Jet Stream Blue. It may have been the one that they has on the tour a few years ago with a LS7 under the hood that was painted satin black and had the same tan interior as this car. What ever it was a bad azz car to say the least. There were a few other rides that were powered by the LS9. Nice to see but you would have to have deep deep pockets to pay the tab on that engine swap.

Very true. I'm thinking about buying a z28 or SS with less miles ten i have and building that. My beauty has 170k on it. It's got a new transmission, pcm, and pretty much everything else other than the engine. I got to fix everything on it when I bought it that all the previous owners neglected.
