Problem or not???

My temp. dosent rise above 160 while I drive. It stays at about 155-57. While it idles it warms up slowly but then cools right back down very quick. Any suggestions or anything to be concerned about? The weather is very cold where Im at and Im wndering if that has something to do with it.

what year ls1 do you have? the 99+ temp gauge is just a dummy gauge anyway. 98 has the only functioning gauge.

What are your fan settings? Like above what is the year, only go by a scan tool or logging software to determine temps.

Mine never gets above 160. Even in the summer. I have to be in traffic for over 15min before it rises. Then it will go back down fast. Thats why i never have bought a low temp thermostat

Its always gone up to normal temp. until recently. My fans dont turn on and its not a 160 thermostat. I was thinking that maybe the stat was just stuck open. Would that be bad? Its a 98.

could be the stat stuck open, atap the car and see the actual temp. could just be the weather though since its like freezing on the east coast and the like.
