Default Hot Cam or Thumpr?

What up guys...got some questions. I have a bone stock 04 GTO auto. I'm itching for a little sound and a little more oomph. I DON'T want to run a big stall or have to swap springs every few 10 thousand miles. I really like the good rump of GM's Hot Cam and the fact it doesn't require a crazy spring. I also LOVE the rumble and fast idle of the Thumpr (p/n 275THR7) with specs as follows: 219/233 .553/.536 on a 109 LSA. I've heard the Thumpr has crap vacuum and this is my everyday driver. I just need some help choosing a small decent cam basically for sound not race. Sponsors welcome to throw your two cents in as well I you have a cam I haven't ran across that fits my description of what I need. PM me or hit me on ashnt_142004@yahoo.com and it'll pop up on the cell. Thanks guys.

Custom TSP: 224/224, 111lsa w/xe lobes, and 2.5k to 3k stall (not big stalls at all).

Go with a 228/228 cam they can make good number and are easy for a DD. But in all honestly it comes down to the tune I have a TREX and it drives like stock. If you got a good tuner then he can make any cam drive perfectly fine for a DD.

I was running TSP's 224R and didnt have a single issue with my brakes or anything else. I never measured vacuum, but didnt have any noticable issues.

Hot Cam tuned has like stock driveabilty. The ASA cam is very driveable too. I hate Thumpr cams.. all bark.. 0 bite.

Ok good. Yeah i've heard LOTS of mixed reviews on the Thumpr for LS and Gen 1 applications. what would be the main differences between the Hot Cam and 224, driveability, power, stall speed, etc...

You could get away with the stock stall on the hot cam. But both the hot cam and 224 would benefit from a 2500-3000 stall. The ASA cam i mentioned would be great with a 3000-3500 stall.

I have a 224/228 581. 588. 114LSA cam w/ XER Lobes. It runs great with supporting mods. Good valve springs/pushrods/LS6 heads etc.

neither of those 2 cams if your going to keep the stock stall(or any other cam mentioned in this thread so far).if it was a lighter car and/or you were running steeper gears then that would be different.get ahold of a sponsor that can get something ground for you if your dead set on keeping the stock converter.
if it was me i would go with something along the lines of a 220/224 112-113lsa with lobes that aren't real aggressive(XE high lift comes to mind),and about a 3000 stall converter.
remember these GTOs are 3900lb cars and need to be cammed differently if being used as a DD.
just my .02

The hot cam sounds really good and gives a decent gain, but it really benefits from a stall. You can run it without one, but you're not gonna see the full performance of it. Specially not in the goat cause of the weight.
