Default At what point are the Comp R lifters needed?

Hey all, thinking about doing heads with my taxes, and figured this would be the perfect time to upgrade the lifters if I need to. Im running a 224 cam with .568 lift. does a cam like this warrant the extra cost of the Comp R's? or are the stockers good enough for this application?

thanks for any info
Troy

Spring pressure should dictate Comp R lifters and a 224 shouldn't require springs that require Comp R lifters.

A question I have is, will 978 springs with YT's be OK with stock lifters? I have a set of used TEA S2's with 987 springs and I just bought a used set of YT's. I've read all the issues with 987's and YT's so I was considering moving up to 978's.

My .02

My car has a 224 XE-R & 987 springs with stock lifters no sign of valve float so far. I've had the set up for 15 months. Probably will do new springs this year.

224 XE should be ok with 987's & stock lifters. Of course you can probably find an even better spring now with the various newly released ones.

Chris ie Cstraub mentioned the stock lifter will start to colaspe at ~160 pounds of seat pressure if I understood correctly.

I've been told by several people the 978's are ok with stock lifters as they have ~140 seat pressure which shouldn't collaspe the stock lifter.

The 977's have too much pressure for a stock lifter will collaspe stock lifters under most conditions from what I've been told.

I don't 978's with YT & stock lifters. The YT's seem to have more mass over the valve than the stock rocker even if overall teh YT's are lighter.
