head help plz
head help plz im thinking of changing up my setup on my 98 ls1. im planning on installing a set of p&p'd 5.3 heads and a different cam.dont know what cam so i know that doesnt help ne im just wondering if im going to have any piston 2 valve clearance issues.also any do's and dont about using these heads thanks
If the heads were bone stock they will have the same geometry as a stock LS1 head. If they put bigger valves in them, mill them, valvejob, etc, that all changes valve drop. You can measure the valve drop before you put them on and compare it to the cam you decide on to make sure it will work. There's not really any tricks. Should just be a simple head swap. Make sure you get new valve cover and coil brackets since yours is a '98 car and has perimeter bolt covers and brackets.
