Linked lifters and trays
Linked lifters and trays Just wondering if I'd still use the plastic lifter trays for installing lifters that have the connector link between them. If I don't NEED to use the trays, could I use them anyways to make cam swaps easier?
I think that notion is based on the lifter trays holding the lifters in place during a cam swap.
After I had switched to link-bar lifters I came accross some magazine article that listed a disadvantage of switching to from lifter trays to link-bar lifters was that cam changes without pulling the heads were no longer possible. Since, I have not tried to change my cam again, I have not tested whether it is possible to to change the cam without pulling the heads once you have link-bar lifters, but I would sure like to know.

I remember reading a post where you can stuff an aluminum 3/8 rod ( Or Wood ) through the holes in the front of the block and gently go up under each lifter. Do a search and it will come up.
I have the link bars in my ls2 block and no problems with em.
