Default Are my flat top pistons really flat?

Ok I bought a rotating assembly from TSP for my 408 and ordered the set of Wiseco pistons PN#K464X3. Now it says -3cc for the piston but when I had it done at the machine shop they said it seems more like a dome top piston and pops up more like +5cc. Im just trying to figure out the right size so I can make a selection on which heads to use.

Thanks for any input!

Here are the pics, p.s. don't mind the writing its an inside joke.

For what it is worth, some vendors are listing the K464X3 as a reverse dome piston as opposed to a flat top piston.

Edit: additional The Wiesco listing does not appear to provide any particular description http://www.wiseco.com/Catalogs/Automotive/Chevrolet.pdf

I'm not too familiar with inverted dome, would that mean its a positive cc then?

No, it does not mean positve cc, but its appearance may be different. Specifically, if the machine shop was expecting a piston that looked like a stock flat top piston with "fly cuts", the Wiesco K464X3 may not look like that. (Since online pictures are often generic, I cannot find a reliable photo of your piston.) It may look like a slightly dome pistions with reliefs "mashed" into it. Simply put, the confusion may be one of appearance .

I'll try and take a pic of it. It definately has two little bumps above deck. The numbers on the pistons say 6464X3 also.

Not sure about the first part he said, but the rest sounds about right considering what the pistons look like in the pic.

I thiink they are based the part number, the Wiseco literature, and your pictures. But I'm just a stranger on the internet - by all means give TSP a call to verify it before you put it together.

It's a flat-top as stated on your invoice. Wiseco uses that "hump" on the other side of the valve relief for a couple reasons. One reason is that you get a deeper relief without having a large negative volume (because the hump is positive volume to offset some of that).

Plenty of info in this post and a simple search shows they still sell the same piston. http://www.summitracing.com/parts/wis-k464x3
