oil leak

hi i just put a cam in and i dropped the lifter. i thought it was in the pan so i dropped one side. I found the lifter and everything is back togeather. I fired it up and it is leaking on the bolt above the oilfilter. can i just use rtv seal and be okay? thnks

Is it coming out of the plate or the oil galley plug in the side of the block? You should just be able to replace the gasket or change the plug if that's the case. I wouldn't use RTV on those.

But to change the gasket won't I have to Jack the engine up??
