Default lq4 question

I hope this is the right section ?

Anywho...LQ4 was pulld from a 2004? Silverado due to no oil pressure even checked with a mechanical guage.Oil pump replaced and still nothing (maybe 10psi I was told) But otherwise no knocks or strange sounds.

What could it be ?
Is it worth anything ?

The reason I'm asking is I can get it for almost nothing and if it's an easy fix I'll build it for my ride (pic below)

GMs troubleshooting list for low oil pressure:

Oil pump worn or dirty.
Oil pump-to-engine block bolts loose.
Oil pump screen loose, plugged, or damaged
Oil pump screen O-ring seal missing or damaged
Malfunctioning oil pump pressure relief valve
Excessive bearing clearance
Cracked, porous, or restricted oil galleries
Oil gallery plugs missing or incorrectly installed.

This is why I asked.... hate to throw money away if it needs a complete re-build or the blocks bad

There was a new oil pump installed and no difference

Was hoping there might have been a easy fix that was common

I would have guessed the presure relief valve was stuck open but if a new pump was installed, I would lean towards a spun bearing or a torn oil pump o-ring (which may have not been replaced with the new pump. The wrong o-ring would give you about 10lbs of oil pressure at idle.

Unless you know that the previous owner shut it down as soon as he had a problem, the nlock is a now a rebuilder.

I had an issue similar to this... was just the oil pump O-ring, it looked fine but decided to replace it after i had checked/replaced everything else...

that is my guess.... but like stated befor... it could be alot of other things!!!

OK. Sounds like I need to knock off the pan and look at the pump O-ring before I throw down any cash.

Thanks

If it only cost almost nothing I say **** it, take a chance. You could part it back out later if you had to and get your almost nothing back plus some hardly something to go along with it .
