Don't stop there, it seems you're on to something. Remove and clean every connection you can find and that should improve it even more.

Mine did the same thing and I checked and cleaned and checked some more and I finally bought A high amp alternator and the flickering and pulsing stopped. Most likely the alternators are just no good.
