Default Which Cam?

Ok i believe all my mods are in my cig, but if not ill add them so yal can see, ive been told if i cam my car there will be a great sounds with my true dual exhaust, im only 16 so 10 sec e/t's arent my goal lol. Im working SLOWLY!!!!! I want a good cam that has a moderate to big lope to make my exhaust sounds good for the time being and give me a nice jump in hp! Is it possible to find a cam with that without changing my rods/springs/retainers etc etc? AND if so which one(s)? Or am I just dreaming?

You are dreaming, you need to change your springs with any cam due to the faster ramp rates. Changing the rods isn't required, but it a good idea. Retainers are not needed at all, but many get them anyways. I didnt only because I don't hit above 6000rpm much, if any. I'll reccomend at TR 224/224 on a 114 LSA. It makes a nice lope that doesn't sound stock at all. Then you can get some COMP 918 springs, hardened pushrods, and a new timing set.

I love my TR224 114, but for you I'm going to sugest a GMPP Hot Cam kit. It comes with cam and springs for a modest cost, and it will lope like hell!

a) is your car an auto or stick car?
b) do you have LS1Edit so you can retune the car?
c) ANY cam will need valve springs (just which ones)...the stock ones suck for the STOCK cam!

I have a TR224/224 112LSA and it is a GOOD daily driver cam (for stick). I drove it for almost a month (every day) before I tuned it. It takes me to school and home every day and NEVER gives me a moment of trouble. You will need to go with something like the Comp 918 valve spring (you can reuse your stock retainers and pushrods for now).

The GM HotCam will lope, is cheap, and comes with LS6 valve springs (I looking into this cam). The downsides are it won't make as much HP as a lot of other cams out there (many of which will drive better) and the LS6 valve springs can't be used with anything larger than this cam (so if you go larger later you get to buy springs again). If your an auto car it could really cause you some problems (the low idle speed).

If you are an auto car and want to go cheap, look into a TR220/220 on a 114. It won't really lope but you might almost be able to get away with not having it tuned for a while (someone with an auto would be better help on this though). You will still need valve springs.

ok...with LS1Edit then you are good to go with whatever you want....

I still think you would do better with a larger cam. It will get you the lope but more performance. Look into the TR230/224. That thing is a really nice lope cam.

i'd pass on the cam and get a TC, that'll be a better mod then a cam will be. and i wouldnt got bigger then a 224 duration on shorties.

if you still want a cam in your current state i'd look into a tr220 112 or B1 or any other small duration cam and the manley spring kit from SDPC, comes with springs and tit. retainers for 178.
