Default preload

hey guys. i bought a 228r and installed it with ls7 lifters, 7.35 pushrods, in use with prc 5.3l 2.5 heads with dual springs. installing the rocker arms. preload is at .100 is this where it should be? thanks

anyone? ive been searching. finding from .05-.08 to .06-.09 to .06-.1 my preload right now is .1. ive heard this will be a little quieter. ive heard the opposite. regardless of that it seems a little high. and this is with the 7.35 pushrods. any help?

Your preload of 0.100 is higher than the 0.060 to 0.080 range usually associated with OEM lifters, but, as your own research revealed it is not higher than some run. Is your valve train noisy at that preload?

i havent finished putting the motor together yet. did a rebuild from a spun bearing but are just wrapping up the top end. so no the motor hasnt been started yet

Many say thats to high of a preload. Many will shoot for .075 to .080.

The times I have measured stock it was near 0.100". GM does have a specification for that lifter but I can't find the data sheet.
