Lifter Question:
Ok here is the breakdown. The car is a 2000 Camaro SS with 112K miles on it.
I broke a valve and went with a heads and cam setup. Absolute Speed Hand Ported heads (by Jay himself before he went under.. these make BIG power) and also a EPS Cam 226/230 113+2 LSA with Hardened pushrods, Titanium Retainers, Comp Cam Double Valve Springs.
The car is a full bolt on car. And I was thinking the Lifters would NEED to be upgraded at this point. Considering the power and AGE of them.
What Lifters should I go with? I am not looking to break the BANK but I am also not looking to CHEAP OUT either.
What would you do? I tried calling EPS all day today to talk to him. Ill get him tomorrow I am sure. But I was wondering what would YOU guys do?

to be TOTALLY HONEST I am unsure. I contacted EPS and told them I needed a Cam setup. He said he would put the hardened pushrods, tit' retainers, comp cams double valve springs (never told me EXACTLY WHICH double valve springs and his phone has been busy all day?), and the cam obviously.
So now I sit and wonder. Do I DO the COMP R Lifters or the LS7's. Which are BETTER? I gather the Comp R's are better correct?

I cant see where you would could go wrong with the LS7 lifters. Those are proven to work good on a LOT of motors. If you wanted to step up to a better lifter like the comp or morel lifters then do it. I cant see you going with a cam that is more aggressive than something like the Trex or the MS4 unless you are planning to fly cut pistons and all that. People run LS7 lifters on those cams all the time and dont have problems. Now I would suggest that you upgrade the to the LS2 lifter trays. I have see where lifters turn sideways in the lifter tray and tear the cam up. So thats something to think about.

I would just use the LS7 lifters with new trays. Though if you don't mind spending 600 bucks the Morel lifters are great.
I run the Caddy lifters in my motor and they have been good so far but are bit noisy regardless of the preload. I don't see any benefit the Caddy lifters have over the LS7's for the extra cost so that's why I recommend the cheaper of the two.

Installed spring force is key to determining lifter requirements. You need to determine your seat force and over the nose force and from there you can determine if LS7 will work or you need Morels. Once the over the nose force back to the lifter exceeds 625 lb, I would prefer the Morel.
I have seen it posted that the LS7 lifter is 0.050" taller than the LS1/6 which are identical. I've never compared them but have installed a couple sets and the pushrod length on both was 7.350". This tells me that the 0.050" is probably accurate.
The LS7's will work great for your application. The next lifter I would run after that is a Morel which may be out of your budget at $370~ more than the LS7's. Would be a bit overkill for your setup but at least you would be ready for future upgrades.
thank you everyone! I ordered the LS7 lifters. The cam is NOT aggressive REALLY. Its a 226/230 on a 113+2 lsa. Its an EPS cam thats why the size is smaller than some run with the trex or the ms3/4. I ran the MS4 on my old camaro (2001) and THAT was a big cam and I STILL didnt need to mill the heads and they were stockers.
So, the Ls7 should be addequent I gather. I asked this question on a few different sites and most say the LS7.Now the TRAY, Where would one buy it from? I seen LS2 mentioned on this forum. On other sites, no one mentioned it but I have seen on this site A LOT the lifter turning sideways and wiping out the cam.
The cam is expensive, so I am not looking at wiping it out lol.

Also, there is a SAME part number and says ls2 lifter tray bolts, gaskets.. Do you have to buy the bolts and gaskets AS WELL as the two lifter trays?

no you are gonna need 4 lifter trays, each tray hold 4 lifters (for 2 cylinders) and just reuse your LS1 bolts, no need for new ones. also i suggest drilling a hole in the middle of the new trays about 3/16" in diameter on the non notched side for oil drainage.
