What cam?
I need a cam suggestion for my LQ4 build. Im pretty new to the LSX world and have been reading non stop. Its going in a 1984 TransAm so im stuck with ls1 manifold until I can afford 1500$ headers. Heres my build:
Stock 13,000 mile 2003 LQ4 Block
TEA stage 3 5.3 heads
LS6 Intake
LS6 Throttle body
LS1 Manifolds
T56 Transmission
3.45 gears for now
What cam do you all reccomend? My valve springs are good for .650 lift. My ptv shouldnt be a problem with the 58cc heads since I have factory dished pistons.
Keep in mind I have future plans for better intake and headers, So tell me a cam that will work great with those mods. The car is gonna be a weekend cruiser/weekend warrior on the strip.
Also how far can I safely rev my stock bottom end to?
TIA,
Dustin

kinda need to ask yourself if you either want to A: pick a cam to work ok with the manifolds and stay with them a while (still not gonna be great) B:pick a cam that will work great with headers and sacrifice some power until you get them. or C: pull out the 'ol wallet and get a cam for the manifolds to start with and then change cams when you get headers as well. I would lean toward option B and eat ramen noodles until you get get a set of headers. If you do go with option B I would lean in the 232/236 112 lsa range. However having Pat G spec one would be even better. Good Luck
