Iron to Alum CI questions

1. If you have an lq9 408 will the internals switch over to an aluminum ls2 block? I know the ls2 stock internals will go right in an lq9/4 for sure.
2. When stroking an LS2 it comes out to a 402 and when stroking a lq9 it usually goes to a 408. IF question number 1 is true why is this? If question 1 is not possible then I guess I sorta understand.

LS2 is 364 Ci the Lq9/4 is 364CI

If anyone has time to explain I would really appreciate it.

Difference between 402 and 408 is in the bore. Pistons from 408 will not fit in an ls2 based 402 since the bore is smaller.

Just to help clarify, a LS2 block can only be bored to 4.010 while a lq4 gets 4.030

But stock ls2 internals will fit a stock lqx block correct?

Yes stock for stock they are interchangeable because both bores are 4.00 inches.

But the internals from an iron 408 WILL NOT fit an aluminum block because you can't (safely at least) bore it out to accept the 4.030 pistons.
