Valve train and cam help. ok so heres the deal i found a set of heads of an 05 gmc 6.0L pick up. i have a 98 trans am ls1 with a lid exhaust and tune. made 335 rwhp. im going to do a cam swap and shoot for around 415. number one are these heads anygood because i cant beat the price. number two if they are good heads to use what cam and valve train do i use. this car is a daily driver in the summer. let me know.

Ok 1. your not gonna gain 80 HP from a cam swap not being rude, just realistic. What are the casting numbers on the head, Have the heads been ported? A stock valvetrain will hold 500 HP ALL DAY. i would put new lifters in with a new cam.

317 are good heads,you need to mill them .I would keep the stock rockers and install some compcam trunnion bearings.get a push rod checker ,$20 and measure for the correct length push rod.maybe consider a torquer v2/3 tsp cam pkg ,or a EPS cam.get a ls6 intake ,you can retain your stock TB.
