Cam question for the STREET
Whats up guys, I am a long time LS1tech viewer (6+ years) so I have read alot of opinions on the best street cam threads, so I know whats out there. My question is which of these two cams produces more horsepower and torque UNDER the curve (Not a peak +10 hp/tq at 6600 rpm). I'm an engineer by trade so I always tend to analyze things down to the fine details, so this power under the curve is what I am craving...Now to the car
It's a 98 Z28 (75k well matained) with all bolt-ons (LS6 int, full exhaust, subfr, lca etc.) Its got 3.73 and its an A4...currently running 13.1's in the quarter (stupid high DA)
My cam choices are
Top Choice as of now..... EPS 222/226 .59x/.59x 113 $400
Close Second..Comp XER273HR 224/230 .58x/.58x 114 $200
I should mention that i will have a set of 243's with patriot doubles going on for the high lift flow (Better than 806s at least) as well as a 3600 stall vigilante....
I think its worth noting that when i saw a similar article in super chevy when the tested 3 seperate comp cams and on the third cam (xer281hr), they lost a ton of low end torque....this is what i wanna try to avoid, since its a DD street dominator (punk *** stangs)....
Also keep in mind the stability of valve train, bc i believe that the comp's more agressive lobes would be more taxing on the the valve train....
Anyway anybody thats got any experience with either of these cams in a similar build give me a little insight...I knew this would be the only way i could get an answer rather than comparing to the other articles...but anway thanks in advance
every real camaro guy gotta grow a at least once haha
