Default Burned looking oil pump

hey guys here's my question. So I'm pulling tearing down my motor for an Heads/Cam swap and took off my timing cover and ran into this. It looks as if my oil pump cooked. the back of my timing cover has the same burnt look to it. What would cause this? Mods are Long tube headers, ORY, no EGR and for the nice person that owned the car before me three different brands of spark plugs (if that matter). Things I noticed the oil pressure gauge sometimes would flutter.

thanks in advance for your input.
