Default What happened here?

this is a section of the 5MP picture i took of cyl number 4 wall, this is the smaller of the two cracks--what the heck caused this? more importantly how could i go about fixing it--re-sleeved? or just pick up a used shortblock and use this as a paperweight?

Good lord imagestation sucks, or maybe its my computer skills oh well, try a link to my import board where the pic already is up.
because imagestation isnt working

I have seen this before with a factory piston and N2o. The factory piston will usually break a piece off like it did on you before it will melt, just a char. of the material the factory pistons are made of. ther piece then prob. got lodged between the head and piston close to the cylinderwall and forced it to crack. I have a block in the shop that looks just like yours and it was N2o on the dyno that did that one in.

The block can be fixed, we have done a few and use a special sleeve designed for the factory bore. If you pushed it really hard check the cylinders beside the one cracked with a dial bore guage they might be out of round.

Hope you get it sorted out.

Thanks for you input--well taken-- i will more than likely be going wiht a new 7 liter set up--just to avoid the possibily of some other cyl being outta round-- i mean if i am going to have to fix it, i may as well build it, and if i have to build it, i may as well go bigger than 346, 427 sounds much nicer! i have wanted to build this so bad for so long i guess this is just the excuse i needed. funny thing is just how it blew up--there is a long description in the 3rd post in the link, i refuse to get mad when i break stuff, it gets you no where, but like when i broke the 10 bolt i was good with it, because i new it was a bomb waiting to happen and it had good reason--but this, doesnt add up--i may have to investigate my fuel pump for an intermitent failure under load or something, or just admit that **** happens--
either the block will make a nice end table.
