Just bought a 2000 T/A... Question is at about 2300-2500 I hear what sounds like a rod knock. Nothing before nothing after. I read about the piston slap and yeah I have it when its cold. All I have done so far is ported Maf ends, has ram air and the free mod things, other things are on order but am starting to think twice. Its an m6 46k with 373's. Could it be running lean and think what I'm hearing is a ping? it really has me thinking. I have no ses light but before I take it back I'd like a few ideas. I have a 70z with a blown 406 but thats a different animal. This puter thing is new but am really likeing the ls1. Anyone have an idea? Oil is clean no burn, plugs are NGK tr55's(bought that way) little on the white side? any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated!!!

You could try switching to some stock MAF ends and see if it goes away. Or take it to a dyno with a wideband and see what the air/fuel looks like. Might be lean. Usually detonation sounds more like a ting-ting in an aluminum motor, not so much like rod knock. Any shops specialize in F-Bodies around you?
