Default Weighing out a couple options...

I'm pretty set on the G5X3 Camshaft. A buddy of mine runs one in his Trans Am with an LS6 intake on stock heads and bolt on's and put down 423whp 397tq when he dyno-tuned it.

What I am trying to decide is if I want to stick with pretty much the same thing he has, or throw a set of relatively untouched LS6 heads and find a used Fast 78mm intake on as well. Obviously I would have to upgrade the valvetrain for the cams, but other than that, no porting or polishing (don't feel it would be worth the money spent when I could just go to some AFR's for a few hundred more)

What say you on this? would it be worth the extra effort of swapping heads for the extra .4 compression ratio and 10cc larger intake runner?

Also, what kind of fuel mods would I have to look into on this to be done RIGHT... my buddy just put an adjustable FPR and a Walbro pump in, but I have a feeling all he did was crank the fuel pressure up a bit...

I don't have any real goals for power or track times, its pretty much just a street car that sees track use once in a while for fun, not competition.

Going to keep looking around in the mean time, but I appreciate and guidance and help!

Thanks Guys!

243 ,799,milled 317 will give you an extra 15 rwp.if you can find these heads for $400 I fel its worth it.consider a EPS cam from Patrick-G,less duration more power.

what will the milling bring the CR to? also will there be any ptv clearance issues? I'm all for whatever is the most efficient way to make the most drivable power.

the EPS 234/246 seems to have the best power and torque curves (to my eyes) from what I've seen... power stays under 6500 and tq seems to end up right around 4500-4700. Obviously every car is a little different but that looks good to me for sure.

As far as fuel mods, I am assuming Walbro pump, MAF and FPR... suggestions on injectors if i just stay with the 243 heads milled slightly and a fast intake?

Thanks!
