Default Rear End for my '00 SS

Hey guys,
I still have the stock rear in my Camaro and want to swap it out for a more reliable one. I was thinking a Dana 60, but that might be too much for what I want. My future plans are to turn the LS1 into a 427 and I want to be putting out close to 650rwhp and 600ft lbs of torque and still be streetable. I plan on driving it on the weekends and a little track time, not as a DD. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks.

Are you auto or 6spd? If you are auto you should be ok with a 12bolt rear. If you are 6spd 9" or Dana 60 should be the only two you consider. Dana 60 is cheaper then the 9" but heaviest of the 3. There is a parasitic loss of power difference between all 3. People will argue all day about which one is better and which one loses more power and we are talking like 3-5hp. If someone can actually feel that small amount of hp they are crazy and the people that argue only care what thier dyno numbers say. Go with the one that fits your budget.

Do some research on the site to help you decide.
A Dana or s60 are not overkill for 600hp.

And you are posting in the wrong section Devil Dog haha
