Head bolt

Has anyone had a head bolt strip in the block and drilled it out and tapped it with a bigger bolt ? A friend of mine doing the work to my car had this happen and had to do this and i was wondering if anyone else has experienced this and if its a common thing ? Thanks:eek2:

I had one break when installing headers but I got it out honed the hole with a spare bolt by flatening 2 sides and going in and out clearing the hole. Got the idea of google header bolts fit perfectly after. If you are talking about the head bolts then thats a whole nother story

I just swapped my heads with no issues of stripping. I would def say this is not a common thing.

The bolts which attach the heads to the block need to apply the same force or the head will warp. It is unlikely you could accomplish this by mixing in a single bolt of different material and size.

Better to use a threaded insert (Timesert?)

Heli- coil thread repair kit may be an option.
