TSP Giant cam in 346 ls1?
TSP Giant cam in 346 ls1? Anybody out there run a TSP Giant cam in a stock displacement 346 LS1? I'm thinking about getting a bigger cam than the 230/234 I have right now. I'll probably go with something like an MS4 but I was just curious about the Giant.
Yeah I think it even says on texas speeds website that its for bigger cube motors,I run the ms4 in my car and I like it,its not much of a driver just weekend toy,I would maybe get a set of heads if your still on stockers,I think there would be better gains in swaping heads,then cams
He has heads in his sig right there. I ran the lg motorsport g5x3 and bigger x4 cam in my stock ci ls1. both made great power,pulled hard mid and topend to near 7k and drove very good on the street. With good heads i made 463hp on a stang dyno with a steel drive shaft,12 bolt and a non ported intake. I do believe there are or were alot of giant cam suers in stock ci ls1 if you look around. who makes the ms4? Fut-motorsports?

The MS3 Cam is better and makes more power then the MS4. I had a good friend that has a ls1 stroker a 383 with a texas giant cam patriot stg2 heads in a vette 6 speed the car ran high 10s na.
Sorry was on my phone,doesn't bring up sigs,so no it was not right there,lol,the ms3 does not make more power by the way,it might be a better cam to run but doesn't make more hp,i hope to be in the 10s by mid summer with a ms4,4.30 gear,and a 150 shot,

I haven't seen that cam in a 346. You'd def be way beyond the stock wet sumps oiling and stock rods rpm capability with a cam like that. Also dunno if you could get enough ptv clearance.

^ good stuff,ya know a lot of people bash the ms4,but everyone I talk to that runs it set up right runs real strong,yeah I didn't think there was no way it would fit in a stock ls1,
The only reason people bash the ms4 is because of the high lift and most people that want to run it dont have the mods for it or have stock heads that a ms3 can be used to make similar power and have good valve spring life.
The Texas Giant is our off the shelf stroker cam. It would not fit in a stock LS1 as far as piston to valve goes, and the power band would be terrible for a street car. If you want a big cam the MS4 is the way to go from us. Although I don't think you will have enough clearance for a cam like that, you would need to flycut the pistons.
wrote about this earlier as i this is one of the issues when i clayed a mock up of the ms4 on a head setup . the exh. and int. valves cut through half the clay . now if you had some pistons with a relief or flycut the stockers it would work technically . though really larger cams are meant for larger displacements .jsut work with what you got . or you can always get a ge turbine jet motor and strap it in the trunk . heard the afterburner will make a dent in the alarm clock going to work .
