Default Broken lifter tray bolt *Help*

Wasn't paying attention and snapped off the lifter tray bolt in my block a few minutes ago, it snapped off almost flush with the mounting point. Any ideas on how to get it out?

First i would take a center punch and smack a dimple in it. Then tap it with a flat punch to loosen it up a little. (You are not trying to smash in the exposed broken surface). Then take a center punch and put it in the dimple at a angle facing (left) and tap it with a hammer a little at a time and see if the stud starts to loosen.

If the above dont work then see if you can find a easy out small enough to fit that stud or you can drill 2 holes overlapping each other big enough to put a impact screwdriver bit in. (Standard)

Remember you are NOT trying to smash up the open face of the broken bolt!

X2

Try to get it free by tapping on it an make sure there no material hanging out interfering with its rotation in the block material. Then take a sharp pointy item thats not to flimsy and try to rotate it out by poking on the outside edges of the bolt (I assume there's rough spots for the pick to grab on to) if not dimple it on the outside edge and use that. If its real stubborn lightly tap it at a angle to get it to start spinning. Be careful though not to booger it up more.

If thats a no go, perhaps a reverse drill smaller in size, or those easy out things.

you can also use an air driven engraver. The vibration helps loosten the broken fastener. Just put the little dimple like in previous responses and give it a shot. It does work!
