Contact Jon Reynolds at TSP, ask for him. He will fix you up. I had a MS3 and loved it with a 4400 converter. Ran low 7's in the 1/8th and 11.45 full weight NA.

Thanks guys for all the input so far, I'm really leaning towards the ms3.

had vindicator and ms3 ... but the 230/230 el toro (xfi/xer lobes) cam was my fave so far

rode in a 4000 stall (vigilante) car with an ms4 and it pulled hard ... thinking really good tune though

WRONG...

Stall always comes first, if you go to big of a cam in an auto it will be nearly impossible to drive without a stall to get in the powerband.

Anyways, I'm going with Thunder Racing's TRAK cam, just slightly smaller than the T-Rex and MS3 but seems to match my mods perfectly with no flycutting.

Torquer V3 gets my vote. I think of it as the mini me version of the ms4. Both have high lift on the intake side and both are on a 111lsa standard. You'll have great drive-ability with it, and you won't have to spin it to the moon.

Thats another thing I dont want to blow my engine by spinning it to super high rpms. All of these cams you guys have listed, I take it no one fly cut?

The fail in this thread is hilarious. You CAN'T spin and 98 motor and stock 4l60e to the moon reliably.

LOL True, but 6k rpm should be ok, even if that may be the middle of a larger cams powerband.

Right, but why suggest cams that he can't get to the crest of the power? Even with a big converter, midrange can still feel mushy with a bigger cam. You CAN run a 4k converter with a 224 cam, and it will be an awesome stoplight runner I know because I've done it.

I think he would be a perfect fit for a 228 cam.

All he needs are rod bolts. **** I have spun my motor with stock rod bolts to 6700 rpm. I have a custom 230/228 .603/.589 110 lsa cam from predatorz. Cam only 11.6 full weight @116mph 3000 da.4k stall. I am switching to a trex cam from thunder racing with 243 heads with the katech rod bolts

I understand I'm still running the stock trans which is running good right now and will eventually need to be replaced but for the rod bolts will it be a huge deal, or just go with a smaller cam?

i wouldn't worry about the rod bolts. i think being an automagic you'll stand a much better chance of NOT over-revving the engine. i think a 4k stall works good with the g5x3. a friend ran that combo and it worked very well for him. but ultimately i think a 4k stall works good w/ any cam at or under ~18* overlap.

I'll have this car tuned professionally right after the cam is installed so it won't over rev.

So I'm stuck.228r, ms3 , torquer v2.....hmmm

I currently have an MS3 w/4000 stall and 3:73s. Pulls very hard everywhere.
I have also had the F13. It didn't pull as hard up top for me, but was a monster down low and had superb midrange and superb throttle response.

I would get a custom grind on eps or lsl lobes. just my thoughts though
