no oil pressure
Well I know what you guys are thinking not another one of these threads. well anyway I ll keep ot short and I appreciate all the help I get. so I bought an 2003 lq4 and swapped it into my 99. I started it and fired up great great but no oil pressure.
so far I have checked to the oring, front plug next to the oil pump and hooked up a mechanical gauge. my next approach is replace the pump and check the cam thrust cover. I know their is a barbel plug at the back of the engine and that will be my last resort cuz I don't want to pull the motor again. am I missing anything else I should check. thanks again.

No I did swapped a zo6 cam cuz I gonna boost it. I also studded the mains and added rod bolts. Nothing I haven't done before. But I know the oring is good its brand new. The pump has 500 miles was in my last motor that blew right away from a bad rod.

Did u prime it with out the motor running? If that barbel is missing you still would see very little pressure. Try priming it with the fuel shut off. Crank for 10 sec three times let the starter cool for 5 mins and try again. If you have no oil then somthing is up. Oh remove the pressure sender unit while doing this.

BTW the barbel should be in since it was pulled as a running motor but i don't know for sure. Also the mechanical gauge is hooked up by the filter with a clear plastic line. Oil isn't pumping into really hence why I think priming issue

someone correct me if im wrong but first place it goes is to the filter so it has to be somewhere before that! id pull the plugs and unplug the coils and just spin the thing over. It still should be instant when you crank the motor

I have oil moving to the filter but still no pressure. Well maybe 1 psi, we use a real small gauge. So today I think I might drop the engine and go after the barbel. Hopefully that's what's missing if not I ll already have the motor down and can go from there.

How did you tq ur main caps? I just went threw a similar issue, altho mine was brand new. I bought mine from an idiot tho, he tried re-using the tq ill main bolts and had 6 out of 8 rods in backwards. But when I re-assembled my motor with arp studs, 1st I done a 3step tq sequence, check clearances and it had .005, which is out of tolerance, so I back it off and done it in 4 steps and it brought it down to .002 which was right. But after I did the re-build I got oil pressure now.
