EGR help
ok, got a 99 camaro that the previous owner put a block off plate on with some jb weld looking stuff. i messed around with it and can hear it whisteling alittle.
would this cause my car to run slow as hell?

is the plate on the exhaust manifolds or the intake manifold? and clarify running like **** with what your car is actually doing cuz "****" could be a endless amount of possibilities.
wrong section. belongs in gen 3 external.
to answer your question: short answer, yes. long answer, depends on the size of the leak and whether or not that is the only issue you have. you could be seeing effects from a bunch of little problems compounded. you might need to clean your IAC or MAF. you might be in need of a tune. try using the search function and google to learn trouble shooting methods.

iv tried to troubleshoot alittle bit and got a tuner to hook EFIlive up to the car, it was running to lean to tune and only making 1/4th of the power it should...
by runing like "****" i mean its super slow and not having all the power it should, feels about as fast as my 5.3 truck....
and im talking about the plate on the intake manafold.

well if u can hear it whistling its obviousl either sucking or blowing air. u should take the throttle body off the car and put a rag in the manifold to catch any crap that would fall from the egr hole. than try to take off whatever is blocking the hole so it is back to stock. than put a freeze plug in the hole and it should not leak anymore. than just go from there if your still having problems.

did the tuner say you were throwing any codes? i don't know much about efi live, but if it was hptuners he should have been able to tell you more about what was going on.
do you still have cats? could be a clogged cat. although that would throw a code.
you may also have a problem with plugs/wires/coils. you might be down a cylinder.
just start testin **** one by one. fuel/air/spark, start with one untill that system is ruled out. fixing your intake should help, but somehow i don't think that's your only problem.
i didnt do the fuel pressure test yet, im about to put on a ls6 intake manafold and see if this gets rid of the problem...
one of my friends wit ha GTO said that ls1's fuel system runs off vacume, so if i have a vacume leak from my intake manafold it might be causeing my car to run to lean and not have all the power it should... this sound about right?

ok, so today i swapped the LS6 intake manafold on, car ran alittle different but didnt solve problem
next checked the fuel pressure regulator, it looked new and worked.
next put in a different fuel pump, problem was still not fixed by this
hooked up a fuel pressure gauge, stayd between 35-30psi, and when revving it drops pis.
when i shake the fuel pulse dampaner the fuel psi jumps up by about 1psi, could this be my problem?
i have never messed with a fuel pulse dampaner before...
