I have a TR224 on a 112---are there any new cams out that some know about that keep good street manners and low end as this cam? Not looking for a strip cam with high numbers, but a good street cam with good low end...Thanks.. and for the "use the search *****" i am looking for new info,,, not info from 2003/... Thanks!!

If you are wanting some notable improvements over that cam then I think you should seriously consider getting a custom cam...Patrick G or Predator Z seem to be the best choices.

You've got a great cam. One that few have really improved notably on, in its class . I wouldn't change it....

I'm liking the HP and torque my EPS cam delivers. You might want to contact Patrick G and discuss a custom grind.

i just installed an LSR cam speced to 227/235 and the thing has amazing street mannors, even untunned!! gobs of torque, and i can even cruise around town from 1500rpms on up! i love this cam, and it hauls so much ***. the soft seats and high ramp rates allow me to have no sewing machine noise and awesome amounts of power.

^ My LSk lobes are a bit noisy, if I can hear it over the exhaust. I am going to do a set of roller rockers eventually and check the swipe pattern next time I'm in there. Should quiet it down a little. Prolly for the valve spring swap though. It DOES cruise great! no buck at 1500 cruising. But I'm on stock gears. The only time it MAY buck/surge is trying to creep at 5mph in first. (T56)

I've got that cam and I absolutely love it.. And I love the people who call it a "Baby cam." Great street manners too. It's a very surprising cam. I should have some with a 102 on it soon. Sometimes I think I want something a tad more aggressive, but I am going to exhaust this cam with top end parts before I switch.

i like the loyalty, my older bro has a comp cam in his LT1 and my dad has a comp cam in his 396, so it runs in the family to get a comp cam....and i couldnt be happier. i love the 8* split. it gives great torque down low on a 227 intake lobe, and awesome power up top with the high exhaust 235 lobes. i couldn't ask for more. also the LSL lobes on this LSR cam have great idle manners.

i really wanted to go with a cam that had not been seen alot in the LS world yet, so i got the LSR cam. now i love it to death and will promote it to anyone that wants quiet valve train and awesome power

I kind of like "appearing" like the underdog. It can be easier to get a heads-up race that way. Kind of like the response to "what's under the hood?" ...oh, it's just a small block.

I run a very similar cam (227/231 111lsa +2) with the LSL lobes, it's a great street cam.

i like the look of the LSR cam specs trans am 7935, it's made my mind up, definitely going to go with the LSR cam, but the one up from yours for the 5.7 heads, the 231/239 113 lsa one, works basically the same rev range but starts at 2,000rpm-7,000rpm.

Haven't seen any in my area used yet except for one on a ls2 that's being installed at a local performance shop, so will be good to see how it goes.

i originally wanted to go with this cam, but i didn't want the exhaust lobe so close to 240 cause i wanted to run my compression in the 11's. my compression ratio is just around 11.2:1 with my PRC heads and this cam, dynamic is around 8.7-8.8. like i said i couldn't be happier. i would take the extra torque of the 227* over the 231* intake though. mine is not a track jock and sees mostly street driving with occasional auto cross, and drag strip here and there.

Thanks for the inputs.... now the hard part... decision making...lol.. now do you think these that have been mentioned would be a noticiable increase over my current? Not that I am unhappy with this cam.. I am just sure by now there could be even better (but similar) type cams out there... I am like'n some of these mentioned ..

yeh that's fare enough, more torque better on the street, good way to go, yeh mine will be a weekender and not a track car, i'm interested to see how this ls2 goes, i know different to the ls1 but with the bottom end and heads done will give me some sort of indication.

got to go back to the place i'm going through and work out the nuts and bolts so to speak of the package around this cam with heads, injectors, pistons, compression, etc.
was looking at the comp 228/230 112 before this, but i like the rev range starting lower down and the extra bit of lift.

although saw a nice 235/235 112 cam that was making good power with stock heads and tri-y's, i'm debating them or 4 into 1's, id say 4 into 1's will be better with a twin/dual 3 inch system.

I think with anything less then a 230's duration cam you are gonna need a Dyno to tell any difference. Even though that cam is slightly older technology, it pretty much set the standard for a mid 220's duration cam...

Keep what you have and spend the money on a set of heads, intake, or rearend.

I ran the 227/235 on LSL lobes and loved it 10x over my Torquer 2. EPS has a great thing going right now. MTI also makes some kick *** stealth cams that are torque monsters. For the most part though, you have a great cam in the 224. I say save your money on swapping cams and get a nice set of AFRs and then really open your torque numbers up!
