Help cam & heads installed now knockin bad
CompCams says the lifters have a ~.04 - .06 preload so I set it at .05
My calculation was...
10.33 turns for zero lash * .05 per turn + 6.8 for the pushrod checker base length + .05 preload = 7.3665 rounded to the nearest .025 came out to 7.375
So the "actual" preload would be .0585 with the standard lengths of pushrods available (.025 increments).

Interesting. Patrick G recommends .080-.100 preload for quiet valvetrain in this thread
I got some replacement lifters but wont have time to work on it until later this week.... I have other issues to deal with right now
...

On the way home last night I blew the tranny out - AGAIN!!!
This is the 3rd time within a month that my truck has had to have the tranny R&R'd. I bought it from Monster Transmission and it has done nothing but cost me $$$! I'm having a local shop here in Austin build me a 'real' transmission and swap out that POS and send it back to Monster Transmission for a refund!
Sorry for the off topic post ... I just needed to rant a little bit.

My new tranny will be done by wednesday afternoon! My truck is being towed there in the morning and I should have my girl back by the time I get off work 8-)
I will try and get the lifters replaced tomorrow night when I get home. The passenger side isn't as bad as doing the drivers side :-\ I will try more pre-load if it's still klanking - I'm just worried about going with the .100 preload. If that don't fix the noise though, then I will be getting the O-ring for the oil pickup tube replaced.
I just want my truck back in my arms <3
