Default reluctor wheel damage help

I Have a 1998 pontiac trans am with a ls1 and a ball on the push rod broke off went into the reluctor ring on the crank and made it that the crank sensor wont read it right and it just starts up and shuts off i was wondering if any knows if any one after market makes that external to bolt onto the harmonic balancer and have the crank sensor read off that because their is nothing wrong with the motor just that the ring is damaged?

I sure wouldn't ASSume there's nothing (else) wrong with the motor! Anytime a part gets loose and causes one problem, there's no guarantee that's the only problem. Aside from that, replacing the reluctor (or crank for that matter) is prolly your best option...

Just get one off a ruined crank. Ask a crank co. where they buy theirs. You have to find stuff like that for yourself. This is not meant as a criticism of you but way too many folks ask questions on the forum that are easily answered if you just do your own searches on the web. I can take my time and do a search for you but why? Are your fingers not working? Time is the one thing we are all real short of. Good luck.

GM P/N: 12559353 24x reluctor ring. $16

I wouldn't even try to mess with pulling one off and reusing it. If it's bent, it wont work right. Problem is, the crank must be removed from the engine to swap it. There is a special tool to replace it. Machine shop can do it.

Ouch! If the ring is that bent, make sure everything else checks out ok!
