Default abrasives & cleaning pistons/deck

Getting ready to clean LQ4 shortblock...are these too abrasive to cleanup pistons and cylinder deck?

A red scotchbrite pad will be better than roloc disks and power/air tools.

If the pistons are out of the block I would soda blast them. I have used this methed and it removes carbon and everything without any damage to aluminum.

Well the blue disc is for aluminum, brown mild steal and red would be inbetween.

ok, that makes some sense, they were labeled blue-fine, red-med, brown-coarse.

I know I don't want to alter the surface finish on the pistons or deck surface...
