Default Cam ???

im new to the ls1 so be nice lol. Theres a guy localy that was trying to sell me a cam last night, but wasnt sure if it was to much for my set up. I drive a 02 ws6 with a k&n intake, and a borla exh(soon 2 be true duels) will also be adding some long tubes and 150 shot.

Any how on to the cam specs.
224\236 609\588 im not sure on the lobe seperation

Any input would be helpful also unsure of what else id need to run this set up.(rockers, push rods, springs, etc....)

Thanks

The nitrous part kind of throws me since I have no knowledge of nitrous cams but what I can tell you is the lobe separation angle (LSA) is very important. If you have a tight LSA such as a 112 or lower, you might have to flycut your pistons for clearance. Also, the tighter the LSA the more rough/choppy the idle will be.

Stock rockers would be fine with a trunion upgrade.
The specifications of your setup are needed to determine if you need shorter/longer pushrods.
I would always upgrade springs when installing a cam over the stock one. Some good dual springs from patriot or PAC would set you straight.

the heads are factory 241 with stock everthing in them(in my car). as for the lsa, i know for sure they were in a stock bottom end 99 trans am. and didnt have any piston clearence problems. i know the 99 have diffrent heads. but idk if the 241 heads have a tighter clearence or not.

That seems like a decent cam for stock longblock and N2o. that cam is nowhere near large enough to cause ptv problems on a stock motor. You will need to get valve springs good to .650 lift and pushrods. stock rockers are fine, you may or may not opt for the trunion upgrade. and you are gonna want to run different spark plugs for N2o. Look into a clutch too if your are still running a stock replacement, it wont survive on the spray.

Ya, I know it will only be a mater of time befor the clutch goes. Any idea what the best bang for the buck is for springs?

Probably patriot golds, although I wouldn't skimp on springs if you're putting nitrous to the car. It'd be a real headache on your part if you pop a spring.

wide split on duration, that cam was probably ground for stock exhaust manifolds.get some Pac 1518 springs and some harden push rods.get some comp trunnion bearings, you can swap them in your shelf.check TSP for all the parts you will need.

Lunati dual golds are the best budget dual springs.

I went right on their website, used the checkcard, and had them in 2 days
They're right in Olive Branch, Mississippi. The shop that wacked my heads
and put them together was impressed with the quality of the kit.

that cam will be a good mid range/topend cam. It should work well on the bottle because of the exhaust bias pushing the gasses out. There will be no need to flycut unless you do something with the heads.

Speed Inc sells the Lunati kit. I bought them through their ebay ad.
