Default Piston ring powder

Has anybody ever used piston ring powder. Your suppose to rub this into your cylinder walls during a rebuild to promote faster ring seating. Curious of it's affects. Also anybody ever tried the bonami trick.

I've used TotalSeal piston ring powder and have had excellant results.
As long as the cylinder walls are clean and the RA finish of the cylinders
is correct for the type of rings being used, you can actually see the rings
start to seat while asembling the short-block

IIRC, I asked you once before for a "how to" on this with no reply... Can we ASSume that this "powder" trick is done on a shortblock while it's on the stand? How does one remove this stuff before final assembly?

Really sorry man....I typically work 12-14 hrs./day and my skull is often like
Malt-o-meal !!! Back in the day I used oil on the walls and pistons/rings..but
the engines would smoke badly on start-up. Then I read that it could hyd.
the rings and crack them. Shortly after that I worked @ a racing engine shop
which made me use Dexron as the assembly lube for it's self detergent
abilities....had great luck that way and often still use that. The Total-Seal
Quikseat is a silver powder that comes in a real small container and you dip
your finger in it and wipe the cylinders. If they're clean they'll turn a greenish
tint and you're ready to install the piston/rod assemblies. Like I said you can
watch the cylinder wall surface begin to seat the rings during assembly.
You'll notice the vaccum/throttle response instantly on startup. This is a
great alternative when you don't have access to an engine dyno where
generously loading the dyno pressure seats the rings and helps make more
power.
