Default Head Selection

I've been looking into buying a head/cam kit for my new engine. I'm thinking I wanna go with a custom cam with a strong low/mid range bias as this is going to be a street car. So my question is what would be a good head combination to match with a smaller cam.

I was also planning on running stock rockers since I have a set with the trunion upgrade already and I'm not gonna have much money left in the engine budget after head/cam.

Engine is going to look like this:
6.0 block
Ls6 intake
headers and no cats

How much money do you want to spend? AFR 210cc and Trick Flow 215cc heads are two obvious choices if you have the money to spend. If you don't want to spend over $2k on heads then look into Advanced Induction or PRC LS6 heads.

LS3/L92 heads are the best bang for your buck. Complete performance heads for $700. Just take the money you save buying the heads and pick up an LS3 intake cheap off ebay. Good luck in your build.

Hmmm, you may be right I hadn't put much thought into the newer style heads. And I'm sure I could find a buyer for my ls6 intake so I'm gonna look into this a bit.

I bought an LS3 intake off ebay for 250. It was a take-off from a new camaro with 8 miles on it. So you can find heads and intake for under $1000. I'm currently building a budget 408ci from a 6.0L block like you. Hoping for just under 500rwhp with this h/i/c setup.

You are right that these heads flow well & are priced right however G.M.
didn't put them on 6liters. They opened the bore to 4.065 to unshroud the
2.16 in. valve and 376 inches helps port speed on a 260+ cc volume runner.
Your 408 will no doubt be a beast w/ these heads but I'd still suggest a
nice cnc'd cathedral port for the OP.
