The most radical cam ive seen is the one in my car.. the ASA hotcam. 226/236 .525/.525 110LSA.. it has one hell of a lopey idle.. i love it!

Can you give more information about your heads? Are they milled, etc..

I don't think there is any way you can make an LS1 sound like an LT1. I've been told it's the aluminum vs. iron block? All I know is it's more than just a cam difference.

the firing order is different which is some of the difference in sound. also compression makes a difference as well as the LSA... the 110 listed WILL be choppy other than the LSA the lift is pretty small but has aggressive duration which combined with LSA crates the chop... if all your after is sound then do a 110 or 112 LSA... if you want functionality and performacne then do more home work on your setup and ultimate goals for the car... big does not mean ultimate power..

Accually LSA is not THE determining factor in the lope, scavaging will make a diffrence ie. my hotcam sounded like a beast, my TR230/224 is mean but not intimidating, and the tr230 is on a 110.8lsa just get some sound clips and hear as many in person as possible. if you have S2 heads then get one that will perform AND sound good, im not a LG fan but they seem to have a good perfroming cam that sounds good. dont ask for the specs tho

I've heard roughness and lope are two different things. Split pattern cams (like the Hotcam) are rougher than single pattern cams, while the amount of valve overlap is what controls the amount of lope. Increasing duration and decreasing LSA increase overlap and the lope. You can also make it lope harder by lowering the idle speed. I've heard sound clips of the TR224 and it sounds pretty mean to me! How would want to make it sound different? What does your brother's car sound like?

My comp cam 248/254 duration and 568/571 lift cam on a 110. Sounds pretty good. I have seen a huge difference on topend performance compared to my old 224 cam.

Does it work with a stock short block with redone heads with no problems. I dont want to get a new motor yet. Just want more power and sound.

The LSA will affect the idle. Going from a 112 to a 110 will make the idle so choppy, or the idle so smooth depending on which way you go. The 306 is on a 110, and has ~ 10+ *s of split. its a combo of things but lsa will impact it more than you think.

...dude, just lower your idle... as low as you can go and still not set a code or die.

I bet you get happier with it real quick.

Also, the more open the exhaust.. the harder it will hit...

Both of those ideas above are cheaper and easier to do than swapping cams...

Just an idea...

Why not go for broke and go with the biggest of the bad that GM has put its heart and soul into.

THE GRAND AM CUP CAM with specs aprrox 237/254, .575 lift and a 106 lsa. Couple guys run this with stock heads and love it and i can guarantee it will lope and perform like a ***** FRUCKA!!

The "biggest" is usually the slowest.

Having an "over-cammed" car sucks rocks.

Honestly,

YOu should look into the GRAND AM CUP CAM for max power and lope wit stock heads! GM put a TON of R&D into these heads and do a little research and you will see what i mean.
