#7 rod broke in half

#7 rod broke in half so here is the story. i bought this motor from a junk yard for real cheap. it was in a 2000 camaro z28. it is a long block. anyways i noticed that it had a small hole by the starter in the block. i opened up the motor when i got it home and the number 7 rod is broke clean in half right in the middle and the piston is at bottom dead center. what causes this? i have seen my fair share but this is new. thanks

when I hydrolocked mine, number 7 rod went too. I never found the the small peices of it that shot strait down and shattered the oil pan, but there was a small shard sticking out the side of the block

ok, i forgot they are not cast. so i bought this motor to flip... am i beter off parting it out or fixing it and selling it whole? because if it hydrolocked then that means the cylinger is perty much junk too without a bore at the very least a GOOD hone job..... so, what do i do.

Hello , what j-yard did You pay You're money to , 1 of the u-pullit's ? Or You got it really cheap probably because they knew about the problem already and are banking on You not complaining/reporting to BBB or whoever so I would contact them and tell them they should do everything in their power to make it right or You are going to the BBB and I've seen some of the online yellow pages have opportunity to review the business' that advertise in their phone books . I bet this would kinda put a little fire under they *** , so to speak . The key is what You asked about engine before and what they said about engine to make the sale . Even if You agreed that it was strictly "as is" most companies don't want any negative feedback flys in their advertising ointment . Good luck and if You have any questions or need any help dealing with them let Me know I also am in Phoenix .

yes i knowingly purchased it this way and i got it from the ecology... a u-pullit...now if you make it worth my while it is yours.
