Default Engine Build Help....

Been a member over on pro-touring for quite awhile and finally joined here so this is my first post and I need some LS help.

I'm going to build a 1950 Chevy 3 Window truck with an LS/t56 combo. My goal is atleast 500 rwhp. What is it going to take in engine mods to accomplish this goal?

Am I better off starting with a truck motor or 6.0l to accomplish this since I assume I'd be replacing many of the stock parts I'd be paying extra for by buying an LS1 anyways?

Thanks for the help!

I'd go for a lq4/9 based 408 stroker. You could either buy an old motor , buy the rotating assembly and build it your self, or get one already built through one of the vendors on here.

With a stroker block, good heads, intake and right cam you should be able to hit your goal pretty easy

Thanks for the input. Is it going to be necessary to build a stroker to reach this goal? Can it not be done with a stock bottom end?

You could do it with stock cubes, but it wouldn'tbe very street friendly and need to spin it really fast...60 extra cubes let's you build a lot more power lower in the rpm range
