I would spend the little extra and go with the compstar rods, much better quality, Mine all measured and weighed perfect to each other and specs when I did my 383. I went with the Hbeam compstars after a talk with one of the sponsors on this site, and was informed they were a better Rod, But I built a stroker and spray it. The scat rods may work perfect for you. Just sharing the lil info I had on them.

The Scat is as good as the compstar rods. They are really good quality rods and are the only ones that will machine the rods for the crank when you have them balance the rotating assemble. The only thing that will need to be checked is the clearance of the rod to wrist pin but this will need to be done with any rods you buy.

Thanks
Thanks for the info. Got nothing against the compstars. I would get them, but I am on a tight budget. I am not going to be running boost on it for a while and when I plan to, it will only be around 6lbs.
BTW, the motor is going in a 79 vette that should end up weighing around 2800lbs.
Thanks for the info.

I built ls2 with the eagle i beams. The lighter wt allowed us to take a little wt out of the crank. Engine revs really quickly and runs great. The h beams are overkill for a lot of our builds.

Just FYI, the Compstar H beams (6.125) average weight is 618 grams, the I beams average weight is 647g. Reason being, the Compstar I beams are a heavier duty rod. For a low boost application the H will be fine.

I went with the Scat I beams in my new motor for budget purposes. My machine shop guy said they were very good as far as big and little end weight and overall quality.
Only have about 400 miles on the motor so far. Havent dynoed yet but its making enough power that it already shelled the 4l80. Time will tell, if they hold up to my right foot, they are pretty dang good!!
