It would add more torque without a doubt. It what's I would do but then again it's what I did and would do all over again. I'm only a set of heads away from topping 500rwhp so you know my answer.

Well to start off.. a set of heads werent in my budget.. Now to upgrade to a FAST intake m. is out of the question. The shortblock is in good condition But the reason i pulled it out was that i didnt have no oil pressure even after i replaced the oil-pump with a new one.. I did a lil. trouble shoot like checking the oil-pressure sensor..(was good) then took the oil-filter off.. and gave-it a few cranks and no oil shooting thru the lines.. Then i figure What the heck this is a good time to get my forged bottom end..Anyways.. after i pulled the block out i started taking it apart and found one of the lifters was severly marked on the roller tip.. along with the cam lobe were it was sitting on...

Regardless.. I was still going to have to get a re-build considering the 180k original miles.. and those damge parts.. IDK.. but always wanted to do a forged bottom end.. but got a good deal instead with a different guy on the 383 for 600$ difference. And that was the Main Reason of my Low buget 383 build.. lol.. not considering ALL the Extras i still need to spend-on.. Head bolts,High vloum oil-pump.dbl.roller timing chain,Gaskets, CAM & (kit), lifters, ECT.

Better flowing heads.. Maybe down the road.. unless i get a really good deal like the ones on Ebay i posted.. and if i do heads then might *** well the FAST as well.. BUT..!! Thats the main Reason of a Budget!!

In Regards of power band.. what ever good CAM Recommendations i get.. That would work best with my set-up now.. and hope to put out a lil. more Than what i had B 4.. Not LESS..!! LOL..
...!! THANX EVRYBODY FOR THE INFO. AND ADVICES..!!

oh ok, so it will be a 383 with the stock ported heads and an ls6 intake along with longtubes?

You still need to tell us what you want out of the car... Does it need to pass smog, do you want a torque monster, more power up top, good street manners, drivability, nitrous in the future, does mpg matter, street use, track use, ect... Or how do you want the power delivery to be different from your last setup or do you want to keep it like that just with more power everywhere.

For now.. Yes.. & about Passing smog? it hasent for the past 4 yrs.plus I dont think it would with the visual of the LongTubes & no cats..but I still pass.. Lol.. Definitely not track-only.. And MPG dont care.. Nitrous or boost NOT now.. but if I did later down the road.. I have a better bottom-end too. Anyways for now I guess a good streets car with a goOd-Top-end

I just dont want 2 get the wrong cam for my 383.. I didnt know if I needed a special cam just for that.. Or can I go ms3 or ms4 since for now it would be the best bang-4-the-buck considering the kit it comes with.

everyone here likes there cam and your are going to get a lot of different opinions i like my ms4 cam and like i said it did good 442/430 on heads that don't flow very good but still it pulls like a train! a stock head vs prc227 probably 45+rwhp that you are living on the table another thing don't go cheap on the heads (ebay unknow heads no flow data) you will end up spending more money just save until you can afford good heads. my ms4 cam does the job right now and down the read it will benefit with better flowing heads giving my 383 more *****

My cam is like a ms3, but slightly different(238 242 114 xer lobes). I specd it checking dynamic compression and overall powere band I was looking for. I have 3.90 gears so high rpm is ok with me. Working well with my cnc 243's I'd say. I made 480+ with the ls6 intake so it's not that much of a bottleneck.

I've got a budgit 383 sitting in the garage for my friend that we will finally install next weekend. Much more mild setup than mine (ls6 intake, DRM cnc ls1 heads that I cleaned up, stock gears, 228 232 115 xer/xe lobes) Should have dyno results on that in a month or so. I'll be pissed if it doesn't make 440/440 or more.

Good Luck man.. Let Me Know what it puts-out.. With my old set-up I would always have matching dyno #'s Like On that Video.. With those Cam specs i posted, boltons, LS6 intake, L.T.s, ECT. 406rwhp. ...I think once on a dynoPack i did 405rwhp.. Anyways Hope to at least get A Lil. More with those extra cubes.. And A MS3 or MS4.. !Definitely down the road am gonna save up for a set of 243's or Better!

Thanx for the Info...!! And keep me posted on Ure friends 383.. THANX..!

The last cam I speced out for a 383 street motor was a Crane 236/242 .624/.609 113+3. It had 10.9scr, ported 243s, Fast 90/90 in a 6spd car threw a 9" and it made 471hp/441trq. Very respectable for a street car with torque everywhere down low.
