100 octane slows the car down??????

HIGHER OCTANES DO NOT NECESSARILY BURN SLOWER OR REDUCE HORSEPOWER!!!! I won't go into all the details but here are 2 examples to chew on.
1. Methanol - 110 octane rating. Has lower BTU value than gasoline but compression ratios can be significantly raised to increase horsepower. This is what Indy cars run on and they seem pretty fast to me. Also, burns very quickly.
2. Nitros - Not sure of the exact rating it has on octane but effectively raises the overall octane rating through its heat absorbtion.
